Hello,
The company I work for is changing the Address book from "Firstname
Lastname" to "Lastname, Firstname" -- so that it looks the same as a real
telephone book.
Unfortunately, it really slows down looking for an address by FirstName --
the auto-scroll feature in ALT-dot was very handy when trying to find
people's names that are oddly spelled.
Now we have to ALT-dot, ALT-v, D, TAB, enter in a name-fragment, ENTER, and
if you don't find it, you have to do it all over again!!
Is there a plug-in that will read the actual Address book, locate entries
that have "xxxx, yyyy", and convert them to "yyyy xxxx", so we regain the
efficiency that is lost by this switchover? I am a programmer, so if this
plug-in does not exist, I could write it.
I am not an Outlook expert, so if this is not possible, is there a way to
dump the address book to a text file, then I can grep / awk it into the
right form? That would be good anyway, because some names are bizarre, and
being able to grep with regexps would be useful.
There are a lot of people affected by this here.
Thanks,
Hapless User
