Emails no longer download automatically

I recently reformatted my computer and installed Win XP SP2 and set up my
email account without any problems, but now I find that when I open Outlook
Express it doesn't automatically check for and download my emails.
I have to press the send/receive menu button to start the process.
It always just did this automatically before.
I have checked all the option settings but I can't find anything that
relates to this.
Can anyone please advise on what may be wrong and how to fix it?

Tools | Options | General. Check: Send & receive messages at startup.

CAN'T DOWNLOAD FROM NEW MAILBOX I have recently set up a second mailbox on my ISP server. I can send mail to this mailbox and it duly appears on the ISL server when I check using webmail access. However I cannot download this mail to my computer, and it disappears from the ISP server wh

emails can send emails but cant receive

can't send emails every time I send an email it ends up in my outbox. I even tried sending one to myself. It won't leave my outbox. All my settings are correct. This just started happening a week ago but I didn't notice it till now. (Gone on vacation)
