I’m using Office 2007 and I used to export my contacts to Excel in the
previous version. Currently I’m getting the following error:

“Translation Error: An ODBC error has occurred in the Microsoft Excel
97-2003 translator while trying to write a record to the result file.
[Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] Unknown”

Appreciate any suggestions to resolve this issue.

Thanks,
Hossam

Export to csv format.
May we enquire as to the purpose of your export?

The main purpose is to backup my contacts, which I do every few months. In
addition I synchronise it with my cell phone. I used to do the same process
with OL2003, but with OL2007 it is not working!

Then don't export. All you need to do is to make a copy of your pst file
each time. that has all your email, contacts, calendar and tasks in it.

as before, export to CSV file, open in excel, and "Save-As" Excel 97-2003
format file.
