unable to delete folders

I use outlook express 5.06 for mac . I am using the mac os 9.2.2 .

I wish to delete some folders I have created. According to the help menu,
all I need to do is select the folder and click on delete. However, after
selecting the folder "delete" is still greyed out. Any ideas??
