How can I transfer contact info from Excel to Outlook?

I have a list of names and numbers in excel and would like to import them
into outlook. My ultimate purpose is so my iphone can then import them from
that format.

Have you tried opening Outlook and then using File | Import/export | from
Excel... etc?
