I have Office 2002, Outlook worked fine with Word 2002. I had to install
Word 2000 also on this computer, and I put Office 2000 in its own folder.
Now, both versions of Word work properly.
However, Outlook 2002 fails to recognize Word 2002, and gives the error
message that the version of Word is incompatible with Outlook. (Outlook
works OK with its own Outlook editor.) How do I get Outlook 2002 to point to
the correct version of Word, that is, to point to Word 2002? Word 2002 is on
the machine, but Outlook can't see it. Thanks...

That will only work when you first install Office 2000 and then Office XP.
At this point you could try a repair of Office XP or otherwise remove both
version first.

Thanks for your reply.
Can I "simply" reinstall Office 2002 (without removing Office 2000,
which is in its own folder), or do I first have to uninstall Office 2002 and
then reinstall it? My main point is, can I leave Office 2000 alone, since
the Outlook link will be supplanted by a link to Word 2002 when Office 2002
gets reinstalled?

As I said; at this point you can do a repair on Office 2002. Reinstalling it
is pretty much the same

Roady, OK, thanks. For a while, we'll just live with the Outlook editor, as
we have done for several years. It seems to work OK, and in the rare cases
when she wants to use Word, she can use the clipboard. As I think I said
earlier, we have to use Word 2000 because later versions do not work properly
with mailmerge, a bug I have found on four computers (which I also posted to
the Word discussion group), and I think I'm the only person in the world that
has this problem. But that's way off topic in this group.
