Hi All........
I have AMD 1.2Ghz, 512MB RAM, IE5, OE5..........my Sent Items file got so
large that it will not open. I can rename it and start a new one and
Outlook Express continues to function, but what I want to know is there any
way I can get that old sent Items file open so that I can retrieve some
messages from it?
TIA

Chuck, CABGx3

If any DBX file gets over 2 GB OE can't access it.
Even before that, the larger a DBX file gets the more prone to
corruption it is. It's best to keep them under a few hundred MB.
At this point you can try some recovery utilities.
DBXtract - http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx
DBXpress - http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/Default.aspx
DBXtend - http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtend/Default.aspx
OEX Enhancements - Import/Export/Resend/Duplicates/Attachments, etc.
http://www.oehelp.com/OEX/Default.aspx
The cheapest program (DBXtract) could take days to process a large DBX
file.

Thanks Michael for that............hmmmm, mine is only a little over 400K,
so maybe now that I've run AdWare and Spybot and RegistryMech, and OE5 seems
to be a little more stable, I might try to rename them again and see if it
will open before purchasing a special program...
At least I know that it's possible now.......thanks much.

Well, I went back and tried it again, after my "cleanup", and it still
wouldn't open.....so I guess all that's left is to try one of the retireval
programs...........
Thanks much for your time and advice Michael........
