See screen shot Subject: Windows Explorer posted at alt.binaries.pictures.woodworking (this is a widely used binary group - couldn't find any computer-related).
I just re-installed windows 98se on another computer. On first use I see the "webpage" formal, with one icon on the left side and a list of folder icons, etc on the right side.
I'd like to get it to look like this screen shot (from earlier installation) but cannot figure out how to get the split screen with a list of folders on the left AND on the right.
Also, once I get the screen the way I want it, is there a way to set all views to look this way without having to re-set each one?
Thanks in advance!

This isn't an Outlook Express issue either.
For a start, in the Explorer select the View menu to set the view. You
probably want List or Details selected.
Then in Tools, Folder Options (or might just say Options in Win98, it's
been years since I've used Win98) you can select to apply the current
view to all folders.
For a better newsgroup, try this one:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion
For best results, use the "msnews.microsoft.com" news server for reading
and posting messages regarding help with Microsoft products. This is
the news server that most of the regulars use. You'll get more timely
messages, and miss fewer of them. News messages often take days to
wander from server to server, and often get lost.
To set up an account for MSnews in OE
http://www.insideoe.com/resources/communities.htm#setupmsnews
The "msnews.microsoft.com" news server is free to the public. However,
it only carries newsgroups to support Microsoft products. You'll also
find many newsgroups that your ISP doesn't carry. This server has over
2,000 Microsoft newsgroups.

What does this have to do with Outlook Express running in Win98, please?
If you've got a screenshot you want us to check, post a link to it. Few if
any readers here are going to go to another newsgroup to find/view it.

Thanks for the advise, P A. If OK with you, I'll just monitor this thread and see if anyone has some constructive advice.

Try posting your Win98 queries that do not involve OE to
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion newsgroup
instead.
