Error Message reported when clicking and attempting to launch and open
Microsoft Office Outlook Professional Edition 2003.
Unable to open your default email folders.
The file C:\Documents and Settings\James\Local Settings\Application Data \
Microsoft\Outlook \Outlook.pst is not a personal folders file
This occurred when I upgraded by loading and installing new Symantec Norton
360 Anti Virus Software program. Removed Norton but still can not launch MS
Outlook 2003.

Does the files still exist at that location?
Use scanpst.exe to scan it for errors and see if it comes up with anything.
If all things fail; restore from backup.

I am receiving the exact same thing and have been researching this all day.
Have you found any solutions?

Yes, but it wasn't helpful. Actually, I found my answer, which works much
better to resolve the issue:
1. Created a restore point (just in case).
2. Created a new profile which restores the Local Settings folder which was
removed by the Blackberry sync software.
3. Transferred all Document folder items to new profile.
4. Deleted old profile.
Issue resolved.
Hope that helps
