Using OE version 6.0 and Windows XP
Until the 8th of this month, everything was working perfectly.
I changed nothing.
Another computer on my network, using the same account and modem is able to
post.

I am accessing newsgroups through my ISP. I am able to download both plain
text and binary messages but unable to post anything at all.
I have tried multiple times to three different groups.

I have deleted the newsgroup account in OE twice and recreated it as
instructed by my ISP, it did not help. They suggested I contact Microsoft.

Any suggestions?

Then you've posted to the wrong newsgroup. I've crossposted and set
followups to the correct one.

What happens when you try? Please be specific.

How are you connected to the Internet and whose news server are you using?

*I may not have been clear, I am talking about usenet, not these particular
groups.
I participate in several groups on usenet and have been unable to post to
any of them, including alt.test

*What would be the "correct" group in this forum?

*I either hit the reply or creat a new message, when I am done typing I hit
send and then... it never appears.
However on my laptop, it will post. It uses the same server, dsl
modem/router, logon... same everything. The only exception is a different
nickname being used to post.

I am connected through my LAN, DSL router, bellsouth.net news server. My
network is not wireless.

I am not having any trouble with email or any other service, just usenet.

Yesterday I ran a system restore to the 7th, the day before it stopped
posting.. It did not help.
I also booted to a different hard drive running a seperate installation of
XP. I created a newsgroup account in Outlook Express and tried to post to
alt.test. Again, it did not appear.

Thank you Adam. I can usually figure these things out but am stumped this
time.

You posted to the Outlook Express for Macintosh newsgroup, but you're using
Outlook Express 6.0 for Windows. I moved you into the Windows OE newsgroup.

What do you mean by "nickname"?

I'm accessing this group via an account for msnews.microsoft.net. Is that
what you use? Lots of people forget to use the "ms" part of the name.
I find the access a tad faster that way than via my ISP's groups for some
reason.

The Server MUST be the proper server name; check it carefully for spelling
etc.

Thank you Frank,
I tried it, it did not work.
Since my post yesterday I have tried the following:
Complete virus scan using Avast. No virii found.
Disabled McAfee virus scan for mail and news.
I installed Foret Agent, a news and mail program, it too did not post but
was able to receive both mail and news.

So at this point I believe that it is definitely not OE and I doubt that it
is my server as it continues to post from my laptop.
Could it be a hitch in my registry or firewall?

Again, many thanks for those of you in the know who are willing to help.
When I DO find the solution I will be sure to post it Smile
Kate
