Happy Thanksgiving everybody - I am revisiting an old thread about address
book.

I am a sole practicioner and there is nobody but me here. Whynearth do I
have to have my own person, private, individual address book, as well as my
shared contacts? Inasmuch as there is nobody to share my contacts with,
other than me, myself and I, I would prefer to have one address book.

I have tried having no shared, all personal; am now trying all shared, no
personal. The program will not allow me to delete the shared folder, but
invariably when I add a contact, it goes into the wrong folder. I am
beginning to become irked with Uncle Bill.

Create a new one
START | Run
type in

wab /new

Name and save it where you want.

START | Run
type in
Regedit
and press ENTER

Press the + sign next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Press the + sign next to Software
Press the + sign next to Microsoft
Press the + sign next to WAB
Press the + sign next to WAB4
Click on Wab File Name

In the right Window pane, double click on Default and change the path to the
new one.

You can export as a CSV the old Address Book and then import that into the
new one. That way no old info from the WAB is used (vs importing from a
WAB)

File | Export | Other Address Book
Select Text File(Comma Separated Values)
Finish out the export

Import is the same way, Text File(Comma Separated Values)., etc.

See if that helps you.

Try the following to Export to a CSV file:
1) Open the address book in OE, then select Help, About and note the location of the file
2) Close the address book
3) Locate the WAB file noted in step one and double click it to open
4) Then do File, Export, Other Address Book, Text File (Comma Separate Values) and follow
the prompts

Thanks for the help; unfortunately, when I go to export, it just sits there.
Nothing. I had this problem before and recently re-installed IE & OLEXP. My
bulk mail program will not accept .wabs, and I want to make a .csv file for
more than one reason. Any help gratefully appreciated.

[I swear we've been through this before, PD.]

Do you have this Registry key?...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
\Software
\Microsoft
\WAB
\WAB4

If not, STOP; If so, is there a DWORD named UseOutlook and is its value set
to 1 (one)?

If not, STOP; If so, Address Book is configured to share contacts with
Outlook, even if you don't use it (can happen with the install of Office).
Change the value to 0 (zero) and all should be well. (If that DWORD is not
present, don't create it, and don't alter any other DWORD values.)

Note that any changes (additions, deletions, edits) made while sharing was
enabled will not be available (displayed) in Address Book when sharing is
disabled.

Do I call you Pa, Bear, or Robear?

Doing a print screen in Regedit, I have this:

+WAB
+Server Properties
WAB Sort State
+WAB4
+Last Find
+Web File Name

The WAB4 folder has 4 items, (default)(value not set)
First Run
Olk Contact Refresh
OlkFolderRefresh

I don't see any DWORD or anything. What is a DWORD? Like Duh?? My objective
is within sight; my problem is that when I Export, Other, nothing happens
whatsoever.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!!

Go into Outlook Express and see if you have a File | Export | Address Book
then select it and export to a CSV
