When I click on "send all" the "progress bar" shows that the mail is 'being'
sent.
The bar gets to the "full" end, then starts over again 'sending mail', this
repeats until I abort the sending.
The mail is NEVER sent.
WHY does this happen. (w98se, oe5.01, PC)?

This could be a corrupted Outbox folder:
- Close Outlook Express.
- OE4: Locate the files outbox.mbx and outbox.idx in the mail directory and delete them.
You can use Start, Find, Files or Folders, outbox.??x to find them.
- OE5+: Locate the file outbox.dbx in the mail directory and delete it. You can use
Start, Find (or Search), Files or Folders, outbox.dbx to find it. On Win2000 and XP, you
need to use the advanced options to find Hidden or System files.
- Open Outlook Express again. It will create a new empty Outbox.

Thanks, I'll try that.
It has happened only a couple of times, so will be unable to tell whether
THAT was the problem

Follow-up comments
As noted below, I closed oe, deleted the outbox, opened oe.
Tried sending a new mail and got the same error (repeat "sending" without
actually sending the mail.)
Closed oe, deleted outbox, opened oe, tried resending the above mail - it
DID get sent this time.
Added comment - when the mail failed previously, (the failure was using one
hotmail account) I tried sending it using another hotmail account and it WAS
send from that account.
I always transmit using a hotmail account (I have several which I read using
oe) and send the mail from hotmail instead of using my oe account (which
transmits using my ISP account.)
Any additional ideas - I don't want to have to *continually* delete/create
the outbox.
